AnnaSophia Robb, star of CW's upcoming series The Carrie Diaries and prequel to Sex and the City, was spotted in Manhattan while shooting for her role as the young Carrie Bradshaw this week.

Robb, 18, was sporting a blue dress underneath a bright blue zip-up hoodie, signature wild Carrie Bradshaw hair and Ugg boots, rather than Manolos like the Carrie portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker, who just happens to be an idol of Robb's. In fact, 46-year-old Parker recently reached out to Robb to give her her blessings as the new Carrie.

She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too, Robb told Us Weekly on Tuesday. She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!

Maybe Sarah Jessica Parker saw Robb rocking a beautiful grecian Salvatore Ferragamo safari-print wrap dress on Tuesday evening.

Robb has been rehearsing for months to prepare for her role, and it looks like she has been doing her research.

We've been doing a lot of rehearsals this week, and I've been watching the show and really trying to click with the character, she said.

The first day of filming began on Wednesday, Us Weekly reported, with costars Ellen Wong and Stefania Owen. The show will feature the Sex and the City gang in the 1980's while Carrie is in high school.

However, Robb knows that critics will undoubtedly compare her to the original, and she is o.k. with that.

I know everyone's going to compare it to Sex and the City>, but we're never going to be that, she told Us Weekly. The show is more for my generation, but it's set in the '80s, so it's fun.
