Actress Hathaway landed the coveted role of playing Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, the next Batman movie, which Christopher Nolin will direct.

The movie, which casts Christian Bale again as Batman, will be released on July 20, 2012.

Not only did Hathaway land a gig in a highly anticipated movie, playing Catwoman will place her in the company of actresses like Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer, who have previously starred in that role.

Hathaway reportedly beat out Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley to play Catwoman, according to LA Times.

She is known for her previous roles in Bride Wars, Brokeback Mountain, and The Princess Diaries.
