Consumer electronics maker Apple will hold a conference with members of the press at its headquarters to discuss future iPhone developments, the company said.

Apple will discuss, the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features, on March 6, it said.

The software development kit has been anticipated for some time. It will allow 3rd party software developers to create applications for the iPhone.

Shares of the firm jumped $2.15, or 1.8 percent to $121.30 in mid-day trading.
