New iMacs may be armed with powerful Quad-Core according to one analyst.

The rumors are being fueled by Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu, who released a research note to his clients this morning citing sources within Steve Jobs' operation in Cupertino, California.

According to Wu, dual-core and quad-core iMacs are due for a refresh in the March or June quarters as Apple has cut short its supply of existing models of iMac.

If it would turn out to be true, it would be the first time that Apple has used a Quad-Core processor in a consumer-oriented desktop.
