Apple has unleashed its new flagship phablet, the iPhone 6S Plus last week. Compared to the iPhone 6 Plus from 2014, the newer Apple phablet comes with beefed up specs.

One of the major rivals of the Apple iPhone 6S Plus is the Moto X Pure Edition (2015) that was announced on July 28. The preorders of the Motorola phablet began in the U.S. on Sept. 2. On last Friday, Apple began taking preorders of its iPhone 6S Plus. Here is a comparison of the specifications and features between the iPhone 6S Plus and the Moto X Pure Edition (2015) to find out which one is better phablet:

Dimensions And Display

The iPhone 6S Plus measures 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm and weighs 192 grams. The Moto X Pure Edition (2015) is smaller and thicker device as it measures 153.9 x 76.2 x 11.1 mm and weighs 179 grams. The Motorola handset comes with water repellant coating as it is an IP52 certified device. Such a feature is unavailable on the iPhone 6S Plus. The iPhone 6S Plus with series 7000 aluminum chassis is stronger than the iPhone 6 Plus from 2014.

Despite sporting a smaller form factor, Motorola houses a bigger display of 5.7 inches that delivers Quad HD resolution and boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 74.9 percent. On the other hand, the 5.5-inch display of the iPhone 6S Plus supports full HD resolution and a screen-to-body ratio of 67.7 percent. One of the USPs of the display of the iPhone 6S Plus is that it comes with support for 3D Touch, a feature that enables the screen to differentiate between lighter and harder presses on the screen.

Chipset And Storage

The iPhone 6S Plus is powered by Apple A9 chipset. However, the company is yet to reveal the exact configuration of the processor that is present inside the chip. It is supported by 2 GB of RAM. The phablet is available in storage versions like 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. There is no microSD slot on the device.

The Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (2015) is powered by Snapdragon 808 chipset that houses a hexa-core processor. It is assisted by 3 GB of RAM. The handset is available in storage editions like 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. On its external storage, users add up to 128 GB of microSD card.

Camera And Customization

The iPhone 6S Plus has been launched with an improved iSight camera of 12 megapixels. It is enabled with features like 4K resolution recording, dual-LED flash optical image stabilization (OIS), and slow motion video recording at 1080 pixels. The display of the device brightens threefold to function as a flash while shooting photos from the 5-megapixel selfie camera.

The Moto X Pure Edition (2015) features a 21-megapixel camera that comes with dual-LED flash but lacks OIS feature. The selfie camera of 5-megapixel is enabled with front-facing flash.

The iPhone 6S Plus comes in color options like space gray, silver, gold and rose gold. However, with Moto Maker customization tool, the Moto X Pure Edition (2015) offers wide range of personalization options. Users can choose desirable colored covers for front and rear. The Apple phablet is packed with a non-removable battery of 2,750 mAh capacity, Mac Rumors reported. The Moto X Pure Edition (2015) features a non-removable battery of 3,000 mAh.

The unlocked 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants of the iPhone 6S Plus are available for $749, $849 and $949, respectively. The 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models of the unlocked Moto X Pure Edition (2015) are available for $399, $449 and $499.
