Apple has released its latest Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.6 that offers support to six new camera models of Panasonic, Canon, Olympus and Pentax.

Digital camera RAW formats retain more image information than JPEGs and can produce better results when used with imaging applications such as Aperture and iPhoto, Apple said.

Aperture is Apple's photo editing and management software for the Mac OS X operating system, while iPhoto is a digital photograph manipulation software application developed by Apple.

According to Apple's website, the latest update 3.6 adds compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11:

* Canon EOS Rebel T3 / 1100D / Kiss X50

* Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D / Kiss X5

* Olympus E-5

* Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100

* Pentax K-r

* Pentax K-5

The update also addresses processing issues for the following cameras:

* Nikon D7000

* Nikon COOLPIX P7000

* Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1

* Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2

The update is available via a software update or can be downloaded from Apple's digital raw compatibility update page. The file size is 6.45 MB and is available in seven languages including English and French.
