Apple has updated its AirPort Extreme Base Station today, however nothing has changed significantly. It was the first update for AirPort Extreme since early 2009.

Most of the specs and features of the product remain the same as older version.

The device is 6.5 inches long weighing 1.66 pounds with frequency bands of 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously. It is also interoperable with Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n enabled Mac computers, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Windows-based PCs.

The device lets up to 50 users share the internet and an entire network at the same time. AirPort Extreme uses a technology called multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) to transmit multiple data streams simultaneously.

The price will remain same as $179 and can be purchased via Apple online store. The device will be shipped within 24 hours.
