  • Arteta hopes Aubameyang trophy drop can push chances on Gabon re-signing
  • Gunners bracing for Aubameyang decision on football future

With the FA Cup over, the attention now shifts to Gabon player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Arsenal F.C. won over Chelsea F.C., 2-1, at Wembley with the 31-year-old player figuring prominently. Having proven yet again the value for the Gunners, most are now awaiting whether he will stay on or move to another club.

But for Mikel Arteta, the FA Cup win can be seen as a big boost to convince Aubameyang that his future is at Emirates Stadium. Hoisting the trophy could be something that the Gabon nation could get used to.

Aubameyang had the honor of receiving the FA Cup trophy and then bringing it over to his teammates. Based on how he handled the silverware, it appears the Gabon national could use some more practice.

As he was headed back to his group, the 31-year-old lost his grip on the trophy and accidentally dropped it. Most broke out in laughter and no damage was done to the trophy. He along with his teammates broke out into laughter with Aubameyang eventually hoisting it to the delight of his teammates. A video of it made its rounds online.

It was a sheepish moment for Aubameyang to which Arteta said that the Gabon national may need more practice handling trophies. It was a chance for him to pitch to Aubameyang that there was more to come and the trophy drop does happen, even to him.

"It can happen, I think it happened a few years back as well," Arteta said (via Goal). "He needs more experience with trophies! We can get him used to that."

It remains to be seen if the recent conquest will factor in with Aubameyang's decision. It was the 31-year-old's first taste of silverware since joining the club. The FA Cup is the latest to his list of trophies. He has also won one DFB Pokal and two DFL Supercups when he was still with Borussia Dortmund. Aubameyang also won the Coupe de la Ligue in 2013 when he was still with Saint-Etienne.

Arsenal now eagerly awaits the decision of Aubameyang. The Gunners had planned to offer Aubameyang a contract recently but Gabon is now making them wait. Aubameyang wants to also see what Barcelona has to offer.
