Computer graphics developer Nvidia Corporation announced on Thursday that it is teaming up with Dell Computer to deliver the worlds fastest graphics processor to Dell's enthusiast line of notebook computers.

Nvidia's new processor, the GeForce Go 7950 GTX, is the firms flagship mobile product, delivering support for Microsoft's Direct-X 9.0 graphics library, and includes power-saving features to reduce battery drain. The products will go into Dell's XPS line of laptops - the computer makers enthusiast and gamer line of notebooks.

Dell XPS notebooks have swept the awards thanks to their sheer gaming performance and the Dell XPS M1710 with GeForce Go 7950 GTX is our best yet, said Brett Faulk,

director of Inspiron and mobile XPS product marketing.

The Santa-Clara Calif.-based graphics firm claims its new product to be the fastest mobile product available, citing testing done by PC Magazine in August, 2006.

Graphics chips are required in every personal-computer to drive monitors, projectors, and other visual devices. Advanced graphics chips, like the 7950, feature 3-dimensional processing to draw complex images - ideal for games and computer aided design.

A record 19.6 million mobile graphics devices were shipped in the second quarter of 2006, Jon Peddie Research estimates. Intel led the mobile graphics market with 54.9 percent share, ATI held 31.0 percent share, and Nvidia followed with 10.9 percent market share.

Notebooks featuring the processor are available for order from Dell, Sager, ABS, Falcon Northwest, Hypersonic, ProStar, and Voodoo.
