Twenty two year-old, Danny Platt, was charged with first-degree murder of his 2-year-old son.
Platt said he was under a lot of financial pressure owing past due child support of $4,000.
Platt made an elaborate story of his son being kidnapped Friday night by three men armed with AK-47 rifles, police said. New Orleans Police Superintendent Warren Riley said Saturday Platt eventually confessed to the killing. He later led authorities to the boy's body.
"I'm sorry about killing my baby. I had a whole bunch of reasons," Platt told reporters.
The boy's body was found at a park in plastic bag. The family is busy preparing for funeral arrangements.
