Kim Kardashian, the American socialite and star of the reality TV series, Keeping up with the Kardashians, recently filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, a professional basketball player. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for seeking a formal split. She later said she never wanted to hurt anyone by ending her 72-day marriage.

On Tuesday, after filing for divorce, Kardashian posted a message to her fans on a Web site: I married for love. I can't believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show! I share so much of my life on a reality show, that contemplating whether to even film my wedding was a tough decision to make, and maybe it turned out to not be the smartest decision.

Kardashian and Humphries dated for nine months before they were married at a lavish ceremony in August that was taped for Kardashian's televisions show. Now, however, Kardashian seems to feel that a televised wedding was a mistake.

I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed into something too soon. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn't get off when now I know I probably should have. I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn't know how to and didn't want to disappoint a lot of people, she wrote.

Kardashian was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport airport, headed for Australia, where she will appear in a television program, Sunrise. The reality star explained that the divorce was a difficult decision. In the end though, she felt it was the right one to make.

I have to follow my heart. I never had the intention of hurting anybody and I accept full responsibility for my actions and decisions, and for taking everyone on this journey with me, she also wrote.

The socialite dismissed reports that she made a million dollars from her wedding. She said the gifts that the 440 guests gave the couple are to be donated to the Dream Foundation.

I'm so grateful to everyone who took the time to come to my wedding. I'll be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation, wrote the reality star.

However, in her 440-word message, she did not mention husband Kris Humphries even once.

I'm sorry if I have hurt anyone, but my dad always told me to follow my heart and I believe now that I really am, said Kardashian in her note, as she signed off.
