AMAs 2011 Red Carpet: Selena Gomez, Heidi Klum Prove Metallics Ruled the Night [PHOTOS]

Last night's American Music Awards red carpet was ruled by metallics.

Some of the lovely ladies who donned the shimmering sheen included Selena Gomez, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Hudson, Vanessa Lachey, and Taylor Swift.

Selena Gomez was one of the stand-out fashionistas of the night in a liquid gold Giorgio Armani backless gown. The 19-year-old arrived with boyfriend Justin Bieber, who looked quite dapper with side-parted hair and a snazzy tuxedo. The couple exited the AMAs in a white vintage Rolls Royce. Talk about traveling in style.

Heidi Klum looked gorgeous in a laser cut silver mini dress. She sported purple undergarments that peeked through the slits.

Jennifer Hudson glowed in a silver Jenny Packham cowl neck dress. The singer, who recently lost 80 pounds, said that she is just now getting used to dressing for her new body.

As for the winners of the night, Taylor Swift tied Adele with three wins total. But Swift took home one of the biggest honors -- Artist of the Year.

"This is like one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me," Swift said as she accepted the award. It was her second time winning the biggest honor of the AMAs.

Nicki Minaj took home two awards, including Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, beating out Lil Wayne, and gave a smashing performance with DJ David Guetta of their new single "Turn Me On."

Jennifer Lopez was one of the biggest hits of the night, after two performances and a grab at the win for Favorite Latin Music Artist.

Lopez, 42, writhed on stage in a flesh-colored, sequined body suit (a la Britney Spears circa 2000) while singing a medly of her newest hits, "Until It Beats No More," "Papi" and "On the Floor."

The Bronx native was extremely thankful for all of her blessings and made sure to highlight the important people in her life, including manager Benny Medina.

"I want to thank God because it's been a really amazing year in so many ways," said Lopez in her acceptance speech. Lopez announced her divorce from singer Marc Anthony in July, which was one of the particularly trying moments of the year. "It's been up and down and just exciting and overwhelming and so many things. I'm just grateful for all my blessings."

Heidi Klum poses in a silver laser-cut Giles Deacon sheath dress, with some fancy purple undergarments peeking through. The mother of four looked gorgeous as ever. After presenting Katy Perry with her award, Klum tweeted a photo of her and a friend eating French fries. What a way to end the night.

Vanessa Minnillo -- now officially known as Vanessa Lachey -- was an ABC red carpet correspondent for last night's AMA awards. The former MTV VJ wore diamond-stiletto Jimmy Choo pumps and a silver-accented white mini dress.

Jennifer Hudson wore a Jenny Packham silver mini dress with cowl neck. Hudson told ABC that it has taken some time for her to get used to dressing for her new body, but that she has had so much fun in the process. Hudson lost 80 pounds on Weight Watchers.

Taylor Swift, one of the biggest winners of the night, opted for a shimmering Reem Acra gown, one of her favorite designers. Swift won the Artist of the Year award -- the biggest honor of the night.

Katy Perry smiles brightly in a Chinese-printed Vivienne Westwood strapless dress with bright purple peep toe pumps. She styled her pink hair up in a fancy chignon. Perry performed her newest single "The One That Got Away."

Jennifer Lopez was one of the biggest hits of the night, after two jaw-dropping performances, including "Papi." The Latina singer opted for a Zuhair Murad gown from the designer's Fall 2011 line. The dress featured black beaded embroidery woven over sheer silk. Lopez wore this ensemble on the post-show carpet.

Nicki Minaj poses with her two awards in an Oscar de la Renta SS 2012 gown. Her pink hair popped against the black and green of her ensemble. After winning one of the awards, Minaj gave a shout out to all the female rappers -- past, present, and future.

Actress Jennifer Morrison of "House" posed on the red carpet in a breezy white gown and braided hair. She added a hint of metallic with her silver pumps.

Julie Bowen, from "Modern Family," opted for a fall-friendly metallic-striped sweater dress for the night. Her black peep toe pumps and up-do added a bit of sophistication to the otherwise casual outfit.

Singer Alanis Morissette posed on the red carpet in a flowing black tulle gown. The new mother carried a bronze clutch that sparkled against the black. She also sported a fishtail braid and bright red lipstick. Morissette was there to present Mary J. Blige's performance.

Jenny McCarthy posed in a purple 1950s-inspired dress with balloon skirt and some black leather booties. The blonde pin-up will be hosting this year's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC.

Kimberly Perry from The Band Perry arrived in a yellow dress with black lace overlay, carrying a bright orange clutch. The Band Perry performed their country hit, "If I Die Young."

Mary J. Blige took a walk on the wild side for this year's AMAs in an animal print, one-sleeved gown. The singer paid tribute during her performance to the late Heavy D, a dear friend of hers, who recently passed away.
