A latest news from jailbreak Dev Team has suggested owners of A5 devices, including iPhone 4S, to download and install a new version of TinyUmbrella to preserve the jailbreakability of A5 devices, as Apple may upgrade iOS 5 at any moment, even as the French hacker pod2g said iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak might be released within a week.

Everyone should upgrade their devices to 5.0.1 (except unlockers) now while they still have a chance, Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill recently tweeted. Once Apple releases another update for iOS 5 and stops signing the iOS 5.0.1, iPhone 4S owners will lose the update chance.

According to Greenpois0n, the new version of TinyUmbrella is to save SHSH blobs for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 Second build 9A406. If users upgrade their devices to the latest built, these SHSH blobs can help them to downgrade their devices to iOS 5.0.1 built 2.

The latest version of TinyUmbrella is available for Windows and Mac users. (Click to download)

The SHSH blobs, a signature file, can be used against Apple server to downgrade an iDevice to earlier version of iOS.

The idownloadblog released a video showing how to preserve users' iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak using TinyUmbrella step by step.

1.Download latest versions of TinyUmbrella and RedSn0w from anywhere you know.

2.Connect the device to you computer.

3.Follow the settings outlined in the video to open TinyUmbrella and save the 5.0.1 SHSH blobs. (Users have to complete this before Apple stops signing the iOS 5.0.1 firmware, or recover the blobs from Cydia if they have already have them saved on Cydia's servers.)

4.Open RedSn0w, then go to Extras -> SHSH blobs -> Stitch, then click IPSW to locate the iOS 5.0.1 firmware for the device.

5.Then, Click Local and select the 5.0.1 SHSH blob, RedSn0w stitch 5.0.1 SHSH blob and the firmware together.

6.Save the newly created self-contained IPSW file to a safe spot.

By doing these steps, users can downgrade to iOS 5.0.1, even if Apple stops signing the firmware.

Users do not need to create a stitched IPSW+SHSH blob to save their iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak.

As of now, A5 powered iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners cannot stitch blobs, so they need to save both the firmware for iOS 5.0.1 along with the SHSH blob in a safe place. They can stitch them together once hackers find a bootrom level exploit.

If Windows users meet an error of The blobs could not be verified, WordPress Elite suggested (Win 7: 64bit): Close redsnow, then go to C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAppleApple Application Support and copy them, paste it to C:Users[user]AppDataRoamingredsn0w.
