Assange Seeking Refuge In Ecuador

Julian Assange, the controversial founder of whistle-blower website WikiLeaks, has requested political asylum in Ecuador and is in its London embassy, officials of the South American nation stated Tuesday.

Ecuador is studying and analyzing the request, Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino told reporters in Quito.

Now in Britain, Assange is facing extradition to Sweden in connection with a sex assault case.
