It’s been 10 years since T.I., Evan Ross and Lauren London teamed up for “ATL,” and in that time there have been many rumors of a sequel. Now, a recent Instagram post from T.I. has fans of the film thinking a follow-up may finally be on the way.

On Wednesday, T.I., who played Rashad in the film, posted a photo of himself with London, who played New New. The photo doesn’t reveal much but it’s the rapper’s caption that has fans talking. T.I. simply wrote, “Coming Soon!!!!” leading many to believe “ATL 2” would finally see the light of day.

Since 2015, cast members have been making opposing statements about the existence of a sequel with some saying it was happening and others saying no. During an interview with The YBF, London said the film was “not definitely in the works,” adding, “I don’t want to be the spokesperson for it. I don’t want people to take my word for it. So, no. Right now it is a concept.”

While London’s comments made the chance for a sequel seem bleak, T.I.’s comments offered more hope. In 2015, he told Global Grind, “It’s a sequel where everyone’s coming back, there isn’t any holdouts… Everybody’s coming back. And I think that, to me, is a sign of a sequel.”

The following year, T.I. seemed to confirm the sequel when he posted what appeared to be a photo from the set of “ATL 2,” writing in the caption, “#ATL2 Get Ready.” The picture was also posted by director Chris Robinson who wrote, “#ATL was a classic #ATL2 will be legendary!!! And so it begins.”

A coming-of-age film, the story of the first “ATL” is loosely based on the experiences of producers Dallas Austin and T-Boz of TLC growing up in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon its release, the film was met with positive reviews.
