Into the Badlands
Quinn (Marton Csokas, pictured) grows suspicious of Sunny (Daniel Wu, not pictured) in episode 5 of "Into the Badlands." AMC

As "Into the Badlands" heads down the homestretch of its short premiere season -- there are only two episode remaining in the six-episode debut -- the few, fragile alliances left in the show's violent, betrayal-filled world are wearing thin and not even family is a guarantee of loyalty. Episode 4 saw Quinn's (Marton Csokas) own son, Ryder (Oliver Stark), make a deal with his biggest enemy, the Widow (Emily Beecham), and his best Clipper, Sunny (Daniel Wu) arrange to flee the Fort. Then there is Sunny, whose only ticket out of the Badlands might be betraying the very person who is helping him escape in the first place. How will it all shake out in episode 5, "Snake Creeps Down"?

According to the synopsis for the new episode, Quinn is getting suspicious of Sunny's plans with M.K. (Aramis Knight). Quinn knows that the Widow was searching for the boy -- and now is again -- but Sunny and M.K. have kept the boy's mysterious power under wraps. However, the dangerous Baron is growing more paranoid as the Widow continues to make moves against him and his patience with his prized Clipper's new Colt may be running thin. Plus, with Sunny plotting to leave the Fort and M.K. making an oddly frequent habit of sneaking into Quinn's house or visiting Veil (Madeleine Mantock), the chances of the pair getting caught are pretty high. Will they make a mistake and draw Quinn's wrath?

Plus, as Sunny continues to plot to leave the Badlands, he may run into an unlikely obstacle. In episode 4, Sunny made a deal with the River King (Lance E. Nichols) to be granted safe passage through the wastelands and, hopefully, back to he and M.K.'s true home in Azra. However, the River King wants Sunny to bring him M.K.'s head as payment -- that does not exactly jive with the two of them going home together! As Sunny scrambles to find another way, he and M.K. will end on a collision course with the Widow, who has recently paid Ryder to find M.K. and bring him to her to train as a weapon to use against the other Barons.

Will Sunny be able to keep M.K. safe? Will Quinn catch wind of what Sunny is planning? Fans will have to wait to find out. "Into the Badlands" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on AMC.
