For fashionistas all over the world the 86th Academy Awards was not about who won what, rather who wore what? The red carpet is a chance for Hollywood to put their best fashion foot forward and become game changers and icons in the fashion world. While some dazzled others flopped and here is our round-up of the best and worst dressed.

At every Oscars we see ‘that’ person having a Cinderella moment, and last night it was Cate Blanchett who dazzled in a soft gold gown by Armani Prive. With light gold Swarovski crystals this gown was dreamy, romantic and fit her like a glove.

Next up on the best dressed list was Amy Adams who decided to be 'her-self ‘in an elegant royal navy Gucci gown. The strapless head-turner was flawless, accentuated with a pop of color in her exquisite orange earrings. The hair and makeup was fresh and simple as she redefined effortless glamor on the carpet.

Who said you can’t stand out in black? Well Charlize Theron certainly dispelled that in her show stopping black gown by Gucci. The silhouette was exquisite on the beautiful blonde as she has become over the years one of the biggest style icons of our time.

But with the good, comes the bad and Penelope Cruz hit the worst dressed list in Gianbattista Valli Haute Couture. The pale pink satin gown looked more like a draped bed sheet, with a misplaced black waist bow that did nothing to flatter her amazing figure.

Missing the mark on the black trend was Anna Hendricks, who failed to impress in J Mendel. There was too much going on, between the deep leg split, low back and exposed mid-section. The vamp styling did nothing to flatter this otherwise fresh faced beauty.
