Mathew Knowles has tied the knot for a second time. The music mogul -- father of rhythm-and-blues superstar Beyonce -- married former model Gena Charmaine Avery in a ceremony in Houston June 30, Us Weekly reported. The 48-year-old Avery is currently a Realtor. She has been engaged to the 61-year-old Knowles for a year and a half.

Knowles told TMZ that neither Beyonce nor her younger sister Solange attended the wedding ceremony. “Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend,” he said.

As Contactmusic.com pointed out, Beyonce recently started the U.S. leg of her “The Mrs. Carter Show” world tour, but she didn’t have a show scheduled on the day of her father’s wedding. Additionally, Solange didn’t have a show scheduled that day, but she did performed at the Glastonbury Festival June 28.

Knowles is the CEO and president of Music World Entertainment. He managed his daughter’s group Destiny’s Child to megastardom, as it sold more than 60 million albums worldwide and collected countless awards. Knowles continued to manage Beyonce as a solo artist until 2011.

In an interview on the cable-television show “Oprah’s Next Chapter” recapitulated by the Boombox, Beyonce suggested that the split with her father came at a personal cost. “It took a while for me and my dad to have an understanding,” Beyonce said. “When I turned 18 and started handling my business more, he went into shock. And we had our issues. I’d say ‘No,’ to something, and he’d book it anyway. Then I’d have to do it because I’d look bad [if I didn’t]. We would fight sometimes, and it took about two years, to when I was 20, for him to realize, ‘Oh, she is an adult now, and if she doesn’t wanna do something, I can’t make her do it.’”

Knowles and Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, separated in 2009 and divorced in 2011 after 31 years of marriage. According to Contactmusic.com, the split came after it was confirmed that Knowles had an affair with actress AlexSandra Wright and fathered a child with her.
