The Blacklist
Liz (Megan Boone), pictured in "The Blacklist" Season 2, may be in danger in episode 21. NBC

Red (James Spader) went on the offensive in episode 20 of “The Blacklist” Season 2, kidnapping Kenneth Jasper (James A. Stephens) – one of the Cabal’s leaders– and sending the CIA director (David Strathairn’s) Jasper’s tongue after interrogating him. Well, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction and, unfortunately for Red, that means the Cabal will be striking back in episode 21 of the NBC drama, “Karakurt.”

According to the synopsis for episode 21, the Cabal will be out for some payback next week via a dangerous Russian assassin named Karakurt. Of course, Liz (Megan Boone) already knows about the new foe. Quon Zhang (Ron Yuan) confessed to smuggling the killer into the country when Liz interrogated him in episode 20. However, that will not make it any easier to catch the deadly enemy. Liz and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) will have to meet with Russian intelligence officials to get some intel on Karakurt, but Liz will get more than she bargained for when the Russians provide some insight on the identity of her mother as well.

On top of all that, the promo for the episode reveals that the Cabal is planning an attack on American soil and Liz may be their target! The video preview shows a man in a car with a frightening amount of explosives (is it Karakurt?) and later a bomb appears to go off as Ressler shouts Liz’s name!

Furthermore, Cooper (Harry Lennix) will still be in a tough position. In episode 20 he discovered that Tom Connolly (Reed Birney) was actually a pawn for the Cabal. Will the new Attorney General make it hard for the FBI director to protect Liz?

Can Red stop the Cabal before it’s too late? Or will Liz be the victim of the shadow organization's next attack? Fans will have to wait to find out. “The Blacklist” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
