German Carmaker BMW (BMWG.DE) is considering building the next generation of its Mini brand at a domestic plant rather than adding to production at its factory in Cowley, Oxford, according to a report on Sunday.

The Oxford plant will be unable to meet demand when the new Minis are launched, reported the Independent on Sunday, citing a BMW executive as saying the company would look at producing Minis in Germany in the future.

In the longer term, given the strong growth of the Mini brand, we will have to think about a further production site. We could imagine a German factory for the production of Mini-based models, Frank-Peter Arndt, BMW's head of car production said.
