Bobby Brown, who has filed for guardianship over his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate, is not after her money and “only wants what’s best for her,” a source told People magazine on Monday. The guardianship will reportedly allow the 46-year-old to take control of his daughter’s personal assets, which include the $20 million estate she inherited from her mother, the late Whitney Houston.

According to Whitney’s will, Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother Cissy Houston, and her uncle and aunt -- Gary and Pat Houston -- will inherit the estate if the 22-year-old dies. The aspiring actress has been hospitalized for nearly three months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Atlanta home in January, following which she was put on life support. Bobby, who has the sole authority to make all decisions about his daughter's medical condition, has no control over her finances.

"Bobby is Krissy's father. He only wants what's best for her," a source close to Bobby told People. "This is not about him taking her money -- he has money of his own. This is about making sure that she will have the best care for as long as she needs… The truth is that he wants to get her the best care she can possibly get, that's all."

The news of Bobby’s action to seek the rights to the estate came after Cissy claimed that her granddaughter’s condition might never improve. She reportedly released a statement after Bobby’s latest move.

"This is a family matter involving sensitive information. We hope to resolve this in a manner that is respectful of Bobbi Kristina's sensitive health information. The Houston family has always looked out for the best interest of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The family has done so all of her life and will continue to do so. We trust that others have the same objective."

Bobby recently announced that his daughter was “awake” after being in a medically induced coma since Jan. 31. He later released a statement, through his lawyer, stating that Bobbi Kristina had recently shown signs of improvement. However, Cissy later claimed that the brain damage is “irreversible” and Bobbi Kristina remains unresponsive.
