American actor Brad Pitt and the families of his siblings donated $1 million to help open a new pediatric cancer center in a Missouri hospital.

The center will be named after Pitt's mother Jane Pitt Pediatric Center and will open this summer in Springfield, the Associated Press reports. She has passion for children issues, according to the report.

The donation was made on Saturday and it will be used to pay the only pediatric oncologist and hematologist in that region, the news agency noted.

Pitt and his siblings grew up in the town where the pediatric center will open.
