British chef Nigella Lawson was planning to fly from London to Los Angeles on March 30 but she was not allowed to board the British Airways flight from Heathrow Airport, CNN reported.

Lawson commanded headlines last summer when she revealed during a hearing for her divorce from Charles Saatchi that she had used cocaine twice in her life. Prior to the heated divorce proceedings, photographers captured images of Saatchi choking her in public. But it was during a fraud proceeding for two of her former assistants that Lawson admitted that she had used both cocaine and marijuana several times.
Lynne Platt, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in London, didn't reveal to CNN exactly why Lawson was turned away from the flight. But she did say that Lawson was invited to apply for a U.S. visa.

"We understand she has professional requirements for U.S. travel," Platt said. "These matters are generally handled routinely and expeditiously."

A representative for Lawson declined to comment on the incident.
