The son of Bruce Penhall, Connor Penhall, was killed Wednesday night as he worked repairing a portion of Interstate 10 in Baldwin Park.

The accident happened approximately 11:35 p.m. on westbound 10 near Francisquito Avenue, reported KTLA.  He was doing contract work, repairing the highway for California Department of Transportation, when he was struck by the vehicle.

The driver, 37-year-old Takamoto Matsuhiko of Arcadia, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, reported CBS.  Matsuhiko was apparently driving his Toyota Rav4 through the highway closure and continued onto the freeway when he was struck, said Edmund Zorrilla of the California Highway Patrol, reported CBS. He was booked in Industry Sheriff's Station.
