Energy major Reliance Industries and No.2 lender ICICI Bank led the gains.

At 9:17 a.m. (0347 GMT), the main 30-share BSE index was up 1.64 percent at 16,309.9 with all its components in the green.

The 50-share NSE index rose 1.68 percent to 4,915.6.
