The second season of CBS’ “Bull” is taking on important legal issues, all the while giving its audience a bit of fun and humor.

During Season 2, Episode 3 of CBS’ “Bull,” titled “A Business of Favors,” Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly) and his team tackled the important and dangerous issue of hazing in fraternities and sororities.

Bull was asked by the District Attorney’s office to help out with the prosecution against a fraternity, after one of its pledges drowned during a hazing incident. Bull is needed to help get some answers, and to help the jury understand that although the pledge died accidentally, there are still people to blame--specifically the fraternity brothers.

Unfortunately, when Bull and his team tried to talk to all of the fraternity members about what happened, they were all tight-lipped and closed-off. None of them wanted to speak, give any information or turn on any of their brothers. This was unusual for Bull, who is normally so good at finding out the truth and getting people to open up to him fairly quickly. Because of his original failings, he changed tactics and went after who he thought was the weakest link, the deceased pledge’s roommate.

He didn’t end up getting anywhere with the kid, but noticed one of the frat members looking extra alpha-like and believed him to be the responsible party. He didn’t have time to question him, but after calling up one last witness, the dead pledge’s mother, the frat brothers cracked with guilt and all looked over at that alpha-male member.

Somehow, Bull convinced that boy to testify and he ended up confessing to buying the alcohol and making the pledges drink and then swim, which resulted in the death.

With another case solved and court case complete, Bull and his trial analysis team are ready to move on to the next one. Otherwise known as episode four of Season 2, “The Illusion of Control,” which debuts on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

In the episode, Bull gets himself into a little bit of a situation when a celebrity sues him after he gave her advice on a custody case and it backfired. Now as the center of the court case, the stakes are even higher for his team to get everything done both quickly and well.

Bull hires an eccentric lawyer to represent him when a celebrity sues him after his advice regarding her custody case backfires, on “Bull,” Tuesday, Oct. 17. John Paul Filo/CBS

Bull decides against having Benny (Freddy Rodriguez) as his lawyer and instead hires Ron Getman, played by Emmy Award winner Brad Garrett, as his attorney. Perhaps Bull thought Benny was too close to the situation to be able to do his best job, or perhaps Ron is the best attorney for this type of case.

Either way, Bull usually knows what he’s doing and will likely find a way to not only get out of his own legal issues, but also find a way to right his wrongs with the celebrity who’s suing him.

This upcoming episode was written by Sarah Haught and directed by Peter Werner.

Tune in to see how Bull’s case pans out when Season 2 of “Bull” continues with its fourth episode on Tuesday on CBS at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT.
