NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Cablevision Systems is betting that 3D in the home will be the next business opportunity. The cable operator on Wednesday unveiled a licensing deal with 3D technology provider RealD.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cablevision has licensed the stereoscopic RealD format for the delivery of high-definition 3D content to the home. This will enable Cablevision's content providers to use RealD tools to format their 3D content.

Cablevision will use the technology for the telecast of Wednesday's New York Rangers vs. Islanders NHL game from Madison Square Garden on the MSG network.

Cablevision owners the Dolans also control the MSG arena and network and the Rangers. The game will also have a special viewing party at the Theater at Madison Square Garden using the RealD format on the big screen.
