Home foreclosures and default notice filings in California rose more than 400 percent in the last quarter of 2007, according to a report.

DataQuick Information Systems reported a 421 percent jump in foreclosures in the state to 31,676 foreclosures in the last three months last year, more than twice as much as the previous years.

Meanwhile, default notices rose 114.6 percent from a year ago and 12.4 percent from the previous quarter.

Meanwhile the median price of homes in the state fell to $402,000 from $484, 000, Data Quick said.
