DJ-producer Calvin Harris took to Twitter Thursday to slam rumors after he and “Blank Space” pop star Taylor Swift broke up. The two called it quits after 15 months of dating, making Harris now just one of Swift’s many celebrity ex-boyfriends.

Harris, 28, simultaneously confirmed the split and denounced rumors with his statement. “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end and what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,” he wrote to his 7.49 million Twitter followers. Within minutes, the message garnered thousands of likes and shares from his and Swift’s fans.

His tweet seemingly confirms a statement a source gave E! News about the split. “It seemed like they were more friends than lovers," the insider said. "Taylor and [Calvin] had very different group of friends," the source noted, adding Harris "100 percent did not cheat."

That doesn’t mean they didn’t try to make things work. "[Calvin] really liked Taylor, she was not the type of girl he ever dates and he liked that. He liked how innocent Taylor was and that she had a good caring heart,” the source said. “Taylor's heart was more in it than he was. He started to lose interest over the past few months, but really tried to not just break up."

It seems Swift had stronger feelings for the music producer. “The relationship wasn't progressing the way she wanted it to,” the anonymous person added. “She felt like he wasn't taking it seriously enough and wouldn't come through for her when she needed him most.”

Swift hasn’t yet responded to her latest breakup, except for sharing Harris' statement on her verified Twitter account.
