The PlayStation Experience took place over the weekend in Anaheim, California, where Capcom officially announced “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.” Earlier today, the company published a press release announcing that it is planning on reviving some of its dormant properties.

“In addition to regular major title releases each fiscal year, Capcom is currently focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP,” Capcom said. “Beginning with 'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite,' a return for the series following a five-year hiatus, Capcom looks to enhance its corporate value even further by utilizing its library of rich contents.”

Capcom didn’t specify which of its dormant titles are going to make their return, but these will most likely be franchises that haven’t been given any sequels or updates in the last several years. The likely candidates that might be getting new games include fan-favorites such as “Mega Man,” “Dino Crisis,” “Lost Planet,” “Onimusha,” “Breath of Fire” and “Final Fight,” as pointed out by ShackNews.

Another possible IP that Capcom might be planning to revive might be the “Viewtiful Joe” franchise which hasn’t had a new game since “Double Trouble!” for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2005. Whichever property Capcom decides to revive, it seems like the publisher is putting up more of an effort in enriching its own games.

The game publisher also noted on its press release that it has now sold 7 million units of the “Marvel vs. Capcom” franchise since the first game debuted back in 1999. The upcoming “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite,” which is slated for a late 2017 release date, will also feature a cinematic Story Mode and “rich multi-player modes including online battles.”

The first teaser trailer for “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite” has confirmed that the game will include Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man and Ryu. There’s also an extended look at the gameplay and it revealed that Captain America and Morrigan will be joining the roster as well, as reported by PC Gamer.
