A high school student at the Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach, SC was shot this morning and died after an altercation with the school's resource officer, the SunNews.com reported.

It was unclear whether the resource officer shot the student.

The student was male and 16 years old but his name was not released. The officer was stabbed by the student and was being treated at Conway Medical Center on Friday, according to the paper.

The student -armed with a knife- got in a tussle with the resource officer early Friday at the school, the paper reported.

The high school did not stop classes, according to the report.
