Actress AnnaSophia Robb will play the younger version of Carrie Bradshaw, a character from Candace Bushnell's book Sex and the City who was immortalized on television and film by actress Sarah Jessica Parker, in a new series' pilot.

The new series, titled The Carrie Diaries, is based off of Bushnell's book of the same name and will be produced by The CW, E! reported.

It's a tall order but we are excited, television producer Josh Schwartz told E!. There are so many talented young actresses out there.

Robb, 18, should be quite familiar to younger viewers.

She has starred in several films aimed at the kid crowd, including Because of Winn-Dixie, Tim Burton's remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia, and Race to Witch Mountain.

She starred in the 2011 movie Soul Surfer, in which she portrayed surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her left arm after a shark attack.

The casting call described the younger Bradshaw as a quirky teenager who is completely clueless about anything having to do with relationships, according to an E! report.

Robb tweeted her excitement over her new acting gig: So excited for #carriediaries! It was online before I even knew hahahaha oh technology.
