In a verdict that surprised everybody in the Orando, Florida courtroom, jurors acquitted Casey Anthony for murdering her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony.

Casey Anthony was let off from first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter. However, she was convicted for four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to law enforcement officials.

The jurors, including five men and seven women, who heard testimony in the month-long trial and took nearly 11 hours, said We, the jury, find the defendant not guilty.

Had she been convicted of murder, then Casey Anthony would have either got a death penalty or life in prison.

Jurors gave this shocking verdict after hearing 91 witnesses and 30 days of testimony, with stunning revelations, disturbing evidence and even more disturbing behavior.

Anthony will appear on Court Thursday to hear the sentence over lying to law enforcement officers. Anthony could face a maximum of one year in county jail for each count she was found guilty of.

However, it is possible that she may be let free on July 7 as she had already spent almost three years in county jail awaiting trial.

Casey Anthony was first arrested on July 16, 2008, and was charged the following day with giving false statements, child neglect, and obstruction of a criminal investigation. Anthony was accused of murdering her daughter by applying chloroform first and sealing her mouth with duct tapes. Caylee's death took place in June 2008.

The key point that worked in favor of Anthony was that the prosecutors failed to show sufficient physical evidence that Anthony killed her daughter. They argued that the three pieces of duct tape found with Caylee's skeletal remains were the murder weapon. But there were no finger prints on the tape and the only unidentified DNA detected excluded both Caylee and her mother.

On the other hand, defense attorneys contended that an accidental drowning caused Caylee's death and argued it was speculation that the tape caused Caylee's death. They further said that the state - in a capital case - must prove that murder was committed.

After the verdict, Anthony wept in joy in court and her lawyers praised the verdict and claimed justice was done. Attorney Jose Baez said this case proved why capital punishment doesn't work. He said he is happy that he could save a life.

The devastated prosecution sat in stony silence after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on the case and weaving the story of Casey's guilt with remarkable conviction.

However, Baez admitted that there were no winners in the case.

The Casey Anthony case has got extraordinary media attention, and was regularly the main topic of many TV talk shows, including those hosted by Greta Van Susteren, Nancy Grace, Geraldo Rivera, and others. It has been featured on Fox's America's Most Wanted, NBC's Dateline, and ABC's 20/20.

Nancy Grace, who calls Anthony as tot mom and had been covering Casey Anthony case since her disappearance in 2008, reacted to the verdict saying: Now I know, it is our duty as American citizens to respect the jury system.... But I know one thing, as the defense sits by and as their champagne toast after the not-guilty verdict somewhere out there the devil is dancing tonight.

Grace hosts nightly celebrity news and current affairs show on HLN.

Nevertheless, the mystery still remains unanswered over how Caylee, the bubbly little girl with big brown eyes, died.
