It seems like the stars of "Castle" are taking turns going MIA. In the Season 7 premiere, it was Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) searching for husband-to-be Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) after he disappeared following an attempted car bombing on the day of their wedding. According to the synopsis for the Season 8 premiere, "XY," the tables will turn this year.

The synopsis for the premiere reveals that this time around it will be Castle searching for Beckett. Fans do not yet know why the soon-to-be-promoted detective is missing as, unlike after Season 6, the episode does not follow an action-packed cliff-hanger. However, it seems things go wrong after a mysterious stranger calls Castle, setting off a potentially deadly chain of events. The first two Season 8 episodes will alternate telling the story from Castle's and Beckett's perspectives, with Castle's point of view up first in the premiere. That might all be a little vague, but hey, there are still three weeks to go before the show returns, so loyal viewers will just have to be patient.

Through seven seasons, Beckett has been very patient, capturing criminals and solving cases week in and week out with the help of her new husband. The hard work is paying off. In the Season 7 finale, Beckett was told she had been vetted to run for New York State Senate. Viewers were left wondering if the detective would give up working cases to become a politician. While fans learned in August that Beckett will ultimately decline the offer, she will be getting a nice promotion. In Season 8, Esposito and Ryan will have to refer to their colleague as Captain Beckett. That will all be for nothing, however, if her husband cannot find her!

The author-turned-crime solver has a new job too, according to the promo for the premiere. Castle will start Season 8 as a private eye and it looks like it will not take long for him to take on the most important case of his career -- finding his missing wife.
