Celine Dion, whose impressive music list includes hit songs such as The Power of Love, Because You Loved Me, and the Titanic movie theme My Heart Will Go On, turned 44 on Friday.

The singer's background is rooted in her beginnings as a Francophone artist. She was already an established singer in Quebec, Canada when she released her first English album, titled Unison, in 1990. She would soon make international waves when she sang Beauty and the Beast with Peabo Bryson.

Dion, who headlines her own show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, is currently recovering from a virus that caused an inflammation of her vocal chords.

She will resume performing on June 9, the Associated Press reported in February.

I tried to sing at my sound check last week, and I had no control of my voice whatsoever, Dion said in a statement. We thought that after a few days' rest I would improve, but it wasn't getting any better.
