At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Dell showed off a new Alienware M11x laptop that offers an 11.6 inch screen with a price tag of less than $1,000.

Dell executives said it's a new category of full performance gaming laptop in a thin form factor with a cheaper price, according to Cnet.

The M11x comes with a GT335m graphics processor from Nvidia. It has 6.5 hours of battery life in its lower-graphics function mode. When users want to play serious games, one button push switches the computer to the Nvidia GPU, which can provide 2 hours of continuous gaming use.

The M11x ships this spring, Dell said.

Dell executives also gave a sneak peak at a 5-inch touch screen slate running on the Android operating system. Dell said there's no guarantee the device will come to market but Michael Tatelman, vice president of sales and marketing for Dell, said the product is in demand as in this age of mobile computing.

We're packing in more and more capabilities into smaller and lighter form factors, said Tatelman. It's good for, people to have access to their media and their memories and great experiences on the go.
