Alas, the time has come and People magazine has announced 2012's Sexiest Man Alive.

Surely, there's a bevy of raw, ripped masculinity out there, but not just any dapper bloke can be People's sexiest.

This year, that honor belongs to Channing Tatum — stealer of hearts, possessor of Adonis abs, and overall gorgeous human being.

Adoring fans need not get their hopes up, however. You see, Tatum, 32,is a married man, and, as People tells us, he and his wife are already planning to start a family.

Tatum tells People he heard that he'd been named the world's sexiest when he was in the bathtub ... washing his dogs because they'd gotten skunked.

Tatum couldn't believe it at first, thinking the news was a practical joke. Now though, he says, his wife kids around by calling him "the sexiest man alive."

Speaking of kids, Tatum and his wife can't exactly agree on how many little tikes they want to have.

"The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that," says Tatum, who admits he'd like to have more, but his wife makes sure to keep him grounded.

Even though he is the new sexiest man on the planet, Tatum tells People that the bestowment doesn't come naturally.

"I like to be lean," he says. "If I get too bulky I can't move well and I like to move. When I'm not training, I get really round and soft."
