Chelsea ended their Everton nightmare with a Mata-inspired 3-1 win over the Merseyside club in Saturday's late kick-off in the English Premier League.

Daniel Sturridge scored his fourth goal of the season to break the dead-lock in the 31 minute, after Juan Mata's clipped ball found Ashley Cole's run into the box. Cole layed it off for Sturridge who headed it easily into the net.

Any comeback hopes Everton may have had were dashed when Frank Lampard's free-kick was headed in by skipper John Terry at the stroke of half-time.

Mata then set up Ramires in the 61 minute to seal the deal while Everton youngster Apostolos Vellios grabbed a scant consolation after coming on as a substitute.
