Cheryl Burke has admitted that she is nervous to date again after the recent split from husband and actor Matthew Lawrence.

"If I'm going to be open, then I have to be open and it's better that I say it than some rumors starting about," Burke said on the "Tamron Hall" show Wednesday. "It's like, it's really nobody's business and, you know, as far as what happened, I'm never going to say anything as far as that goes."

The 38-year-old TV star, who appeared on the "Dancing with the Stars," shared that she doesn't want to "gossip" about her divorce and will rather focus on being a better woman.

Burke said she has a "social phobia" and prefers staying at home most of her time. "I actually don't love going out, especially with my sobriety," she added. "I'm just learning about all of this and interaction and like, the new way of dating, you have to swipe left."

Burke now wants to just love herself first before introducing anyone else in her life. She noted that ending a relationship can be a "lonely" and "painful" experience, which feels "like a death."

"It is lonely and if anyone else is like me out there that just, you know, tend to just crawl into their shell like I do, at least you know that you're just not alone and through the process because it is painful," she explained. "It is like a death. It is a death, right?"

The TV star added she is "really new" to such situations and is "open to any advice."

She also shared her thoughts about Lawrence following the split and said, "He will always have a special place in my heart for sure. I mean, I will, I have so much love for him and his family forever."

Burke married Lawrence in 2019 and they separated earlier this year.

On the work front, Burke is all set to launch the first episode of her podcast, "Burke in the Game," on May 10.
