Chicago Fire
Here’s what fans can expect from “Chicago Fire” Season 5. NBC

“Chicago Fire” executive producer Derek Haas has already cleared up speculations that a wedding between Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) will happen in season 5, but stars of the show continue to fan the rumors by dropping hints alluding to a formal union between the firefighters.

In an interview with E! News, Raymund opened up about what fans can expect from her character’s relationship with Casey.

“Casey and I are now really committed to each other and we feel like we’re family, and I think we’re going to see some really amazing stories from both of them,” the actress said. “We actually make a commitment to each other in a way that I think fans will be very excited about.”

Spencer also hinted at a wedding during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The actor said that while he cannot guarantee that it will be seen this season, he knows that “it’s in the wings.” He also said that if the wedding does happen, it definitely will not be a “white wedding” because that would be out-of-character for Casey and Dawson.

Meanwhile, Haas told Entertainment Weekly that Casey and Dawson will not tie the knot, but they will achieve a new milestone in their relationship.

“Casey made a very conscious decision at the end of last season to go back to Dawson and we want to explore the two of them as a couple,” Haas said. “Not as a married couple necessarily, but as a couple with a child in their lives, and also explore the challenges of being on a fire truck together with a child at home.”

Even though a wedding may not happen, the current season of the show will still feature a lot of romance. A crossover romance between “Chicago Fire’s” Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and “Chicago P.D.’s” Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) has been slated.

“Chicago Fire” airs Tuesdays, 10 p.m. on NBC.
