Chloe Grace Moretz recently recalled a time when she was body-shamed by a male co-star when she was just a teenager.

In an interview with Variety, the 20-year-old actress revealed that her co-star, who happened to be her love interest in one of the films that she starred in, openly insulted her figure, which made her cry. “This guy that was my love interest was like, ‘I’d never date you in real life,’ and I was like, ‘What?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, you’re too big for me’ – as in my size. It was one of the only actors that ever made me cry on set,” she said.

The “If I Stay” actress did not reveal the identity of her former co-star, but Moretz said that he was between the ages of 23 and 25 while she was 15 at the time. Following the incident, Moretz called one of her four older brothers, whom she is very close with, and told him what just happened. According to the actress, her brother got really angry over the incident. But like a true professional, Moretz returned to set and acted as though nothing happened.

“I had to pick it up and go back on set and pretend he was a love interest, and it was really hard… It just makes you realize that there are some really bad people out there and for some reason, he felt the need to say that to me. You have to kind of forgive and not forget really, but it was just like wow. It was jarring. I look back on it and I was 15, which is really, really dark,” she said.

Meanwhile, Moretz also talked about the other struggles she has faced in the entertainment industry. According to her, there have been instances wherein she wasn’t cast for a role because she was told her hair was too blonde and two blonde girls couldn’t star in the same film.

There were also some cases wherein she was told that her face was too familiar to the crowd since she has already starred in 50 movies. “Now it’s ‘Oh, you’re too known, your face is in too many things.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, if I were unknown, then I wouldn’t be known enough,’” she said.
