Actor Chris Pine is no stranger to action flicks. The 34-year-old, Los Angeles-born actor played hot-headed Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams’ last two “Star Trek” movies and the lead role in “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.” Now, Pine is reportedly in negotiations with Warner Bros. to play Steve Trevor the studio's upcoming “Wonder Woman” film.

Pine’s character would be the boyfriend of Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, if the deal goes through, according to the Hollywood Reporter. While director Michelle MacLaren left the project in April due to creative differences, Patty Jenkins is now onboard to direct. Jenkins is best known for her work directing 2011’s “Five,” 2003’s “Monster,” and a 2006 episode of HBO's “Entourage."

Steve Trevor played a crucial role in the “Wonder Woman” DC comic book series. The character began as a U.S. army officer whose plane crash landed on Paradise Island, the home of Wonder Woman and her Amazon tribe during World War II. He was nursed back to health by Amazon princess Diana, who follows him back to the United States and takes on the alter ego of Wonder Woman.

"Wonder Woman" is not the only film in the lineup for Pine. He is also set to return to his role as Captain Kirk in the upcoming “Star Trek Beyond,” which will reach theaters on July 8, 2016. “Wonder Woman” will premiere in 2017 as part of Warner Bros.’ deal with DC Comics. The company will produce 10 films based on the series from the comic books.

Gadot, 30, will star as Wonder Woman in the film, but will first appear as the superhero in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which features Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman. The film has a release date of March 25, 2016.
