World renowned French shoe designer, Christian Louboutin, has released his new autumn/winter 2011 collection. Many people believe that Louboutin's shoes are actual works of art (they can cost up to $4,000 per pair) so it makes sense that Christian Louboutin introduced his new collection with an artistically-themed photo shoot. Each new pair of shoes is styled in collaboration with famous historical paintings. Louboutin worked with photographer, Peter Lipmann on the autumn/winter 2011 collection images.

An example of one of the portraits is the Francois Clouet's Elizabeth of Austria. In the photograph, the Queen is still sitting down on a throne while Louboutin's new 'Catalina' sequined clutch bag rests on her lap along with golden spiked 'Pigalilli' platforms atop the bag. The platforms are a favorite of Victoria Beckham's.

Well-known portrait, Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist's Mother, by James McNeill Whistler, has also been taken over by Louboutin's style. With the help of Peter Lipmann, Whistler's Mother can be seen holding the 'Tootsie' ankle boot embellished with roccia leather and speckled piping, instead of a hankerchief.

There are no words to describe the detail and hard-work that goes into every pair of Louboutin shoes. The shoes are made for royalty; why not throw them in a portrait as a royal would be.
