Cara Mia! Actress Christina Ricci sent the Internet into a frenzy when a photo of her dressed as Morticia Addams from “The Addams Family” went viral. The 35-year-old star was 11-years-old when she appeared as Wednesday Addams, daughter of Morticia (Anjelica Huston) and Gomez Addams (Raul Julia), in the 1991 movie remake of the classic television series. But fans shouldn’t start campaigning for a reboot starring Ricci as the Addams Family matriarch just yet, because the truth is that the image was Photoshopped.

The black and white image that caused a stir features Ricci with her long, dark hair down. She’s wearing a black, body-fitting floor length gown with a deep V-neck cut to her waist. Fabric from the dress fans out around her hands and the floor, similar to Morticia’s infamous dress. With one arm resting on a chair, Ricci looks straight into the camera.

Ricci has not commented on the photo of her as Morticia. However, Yahoo Movies was able to come to the conclusion that the image was edited. What’s the original image, you may ask? It’s a publicity still photo of Anjelica Huston from the 1991 movie. The background, chair and stance in Ricci’s photo is exactly the same as Huston’s, however it appears as if the image was flipped so that Ricci is on the right hand side of the chair, rather than the left like Huston. It’s believed that the picture first appeared on a Tumblr page called “Mystical Enchantment.”
