Like mother, like daughter. Cindy Crawford's 10-year-old daughter Kaia is following in the supermodel's footsteps. Kaia is the new face of Versace's children's collection. But is her campaign tasteful or is it too sexy?

As the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Kaia Gerber might have been destined for a life in front of the camera. At just 10-years-old she is getting a taste of the limelight as the face of Versace's 12-and-under collection, Young Versace.

In the photos, Crawford's daughter poses in a black leather jacket, high-wasted skirt and flats with her long brunette hair flowing behind her. A clear resemblance can be seen between the youngster and her still-stunning mother.

Cindy Crawford, who was the muse of Gianni Versace, was excited for her daughter. I'm so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign. I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace, Crawford said in a press release.

Cindy said that her daughter had begun considering modeling when she was just 8-years-old. She's definitely tall, but hopefully I can keep her away from it for a little while, Cindy said at the time. NY Magazine reports that Kaia told her mother that she might try modeling eventually because you don't need any special skills.

Donatella Versace voiced her admiration as well: Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her.

Some have not been as approving. Ashley Cardiff of TheGloss said, This images [sic] makes us uncomfortable.

Wholesome smile aside, this isn't really different from a regular, garden variety Versace campaign. If you swapped out those flat sandals-leave the socks for fetishistic purposes, obviously-and replaced them with towering platforms, you'd get every Versace campaign ever... if not a little more exposed thigh. Except this time the model is ten, instead of the brand's usual 16 going on 27 sexually available, Cardiff wrote.

Others took to Twitter to question the youngster's move into modeling. Do you think Cindy Crawford's daughter should be modelling at age 10? Yay or nay? tweeted Marie Claire magazine. Cindy Crawford's 10-year-old daughter is starring in the Young Versace campaign. Too much, too young? asled another user.

The use of child models has been a heated source of controversy. In January, a maelstrom of criticism hailed down after Dakota Fanning's Cosmopolitan magazine cover was unveiled. Cosmo is a magazine geared towards adult women and Fanning is a 17-year-old. In the cover photo, the youngster is surrounded by cover lines like His Best Sex Ever, Too Naughty to Say Here, and Um, Vagina, Are You Okay Down There?

Cosmopolitan is going overboard by putting an underage girl on its cover surrounded by such article titles, media expert Rachelle Friberg told FOX411's Pop Tarts column. It is one thing to educate young women about sex and their bodies, but putting a young, underage girl on the cover of a magazine that had long been known to push the limits is sending the wrong message. New York Magazine added in two cents as well, We don't mean to be prude, but isn't she like, 17?

Images of 10-year-old model Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau from the January 2011 issue of French Vogue also gained media scrutiny. The images showed a highly-sexualized editorial of the young Blondeau-turned-Lolita draped over various animal skins, lathered in make-up, and staring seductively into the camera. The photos caused a firestorm sparked by individuals furious that such images - which some claimed blurred the line between fashion editorial and child pornography - would be condoned.

Kaia's ad was shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. The campaign will be released after Young Versace's first show during Pitti Immagine Bimbo in Florence Thursday.
