There's a strong chance that the reigning national champion will successfully defend its title for the first time in a decade. Now that the four-team field has been finalized, Georgia is the odds-on favorite to win the 2022 College Football Playoff.

Georgia has -130 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win a second straight championship. Michigan has the second-best odds in the College Football Playoff field at +300. Ohio State is third with +360 odds. TCU is a +1800 long shot to win the title.

Even though Georgia is the championship favorite, Michigan has the best odds to advance beyond the College Football Playoff semifinal. The Wolverines are 8.5-point favorites over the Horned Frogs with -330 odds to win outright. Georgia is a 6.5-point favorite over Ohio State with -255 odds to beat the Buckeyes straight up.

TCU has +260 odds to upset Michigan. Ohio State is a +205 underdog against Georgia.

A matchup between Georgia and Michigan in the CFP National Championship Game is considered to be the most likely with -140 odds. The most unlikely matchup features Ohio State and TCU at +1100.

If Michigan moves on to the title game, the Wolverines will face a familiar opponent. Georgia had its way with Michigan in last year's CFP semifinals, winning 34-11. Michigan and Ohio State are both one victory away from making a national championship matchup part of college football's greatest rivalry.

TCU finished the 1938 college football season as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation with a perfect 10-0 record. The Horned Frogs are in the CFP field for the first time.

Ohio State is in the CFP for the third time. Georgia is at three appearances. Michigan has now made two appearances in the playoffs.

Alabama is the last team to win consecutive national championships, doing so in 2011 and 2012. No national champion has successfully repeated since the four-team CFP was established in 2014.

In the last four years, two reigning champs have lost in the CFP title game. Joe Burrow and LSU defeated Trevor Lawrence and Clemson in the national championship game. Alabama's bid to win a second straight title was stopped by Georgia.
