SlimType smart cover converts the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge into a QWERTY smartphone. SlimType

Owners of the 2015 flagship Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge can now turn their touchscreen handset into a QWERTY phone using the stunning “One2Touch SlimType cover.”

Well-known for NFC-powered wireless communication devices, the Norwegian company “One2Touch” has come up with a SlimType smart cover for Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which provides hardware QWERTY keyboard. This cover is apparently the first smartphone cover to come bundled with an integrated portable keyboard, powered purely by Near Field Communication (NFC).

The SlimType cover is made of protective textile that looks extremely thin and it is reportedly easy to fold as the surface is flexible. This smart cover apparently fits in a pocket, purse or jacket effortlessly. The icing on the cake, however, is that there is no need for batteries, cables or pairing codes.

In order to make the S6 pair with the cover via NFC, the Galaxy S6 owners have to download a dedicated app from Google Play. As Business Wire puts it, “Simply place the NFC-enabled phone on the cover, install the app, and start typing.”

Apart from the hardware QWERTY keyboard, the cover also provides hot keys to offer quick access to email, contacts, calendar and Web applications. This cover will be made available in Cherry Red, Black Sapphire and White Pearl colors.

Speaking of release date, there is no official information available at this point, however, SlimType’s official Website says interested buyers can “reserve the cover” right away. The retail price of this smart cover is $39. But then, this is just the launch price and hence, interested buyers may have to reserve the gadget as soon as possible.

It is worth noting that even though the SlimType cover works with both Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it does not support the Galaxy S6 Edge+, Phone Arena noted.
