Rescue divers have found another body within the shipwrecked Costa Concordia which ran aground off the western coast of Italy last week, according to local officials.

The body was described as an elderly woman, but no further information was provided, according to Reuters.

The numbers of bodies recovered has now climbed to 16.

Associated Press reported that the discovery was made as local officials commenced an operation to remove fuel from the ship’s tanks.

The crippled vessel now lays half-submerged, amidst fears that inclement weather may further tip it over, thereby releasing tens of thousands of gallons of fuel into the pristine waters.
