In a tragic incident on Thursday, a 10-year-old girl in Indonesia was attacked and eaten by a crocodile. Her father and brother could do nothing but look on helplessly, the Associated Press reported.

According to local official Victor Mado Waton, who was quoted in the Jakarta Post, the girl, Juraida, was hunting for turtles with her father and brother in the East Nusatenggara province, when a giant saltwater crocodile sprang from the river and snatched her.

Waton also said, on Saturday, pieces of the girl's clothing were found by villagers a few hours later. However, no traces of the child's body were found.

The girl's father, who was just a few meters away from his daughter when the attack occurred, could do nothing but witness his child's death.

In a similar incident last month, a young boy was killed on the banks of the same river,
