The weeks are flying by for Season 23 “Dancing With the Stars” contestants and the Mirror Ball trophy is within the grasp of one of the remaining teams. Sadly, there is a pair on the cast who won’t be moving forward after Monday’s performances.

In Week 7 the teams were called to create a performance corresponding to a decade as well as a team dance. Calvin Johnson Jr. and partner Lindsay Arnold wowed the judges with their jive routine, scoring 36 out of 40 possible points. The pair were awarded the highest score of the night and are safe from elimination.

Not far behind were Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy; Terra Jolé and Sasha Farber; Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko; and James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess all with scores of 34 out of 40. Despite a number of high scores for the Season 23 “DWTS” cast, it was clear during the episode that the pressure of performing and the possibility of winning is weighing heavy on even the strongest of teams. Jana and Gleb, for example, struggled to nail their steps fresh off a perfect score in Week 6.

Meanwhile Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke and Marueen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev continued to have troubles with their individual performances. Ryan and Cheryl were assigned the 90s, performing a rumba to Aerosmith’s “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” The Olympian and his partner were awarded the lowest score of the night with just 28 points out of a possible 40. Maureen and Artem were able to pull ahead by just one point with their 80s-themed tango.

In the second half of the two-hour live show the cast is split into two — Team Past and Team Future. Team captains were chosen, then hand selecting their performers. Team Past wowed the judges with a waltz, scoring 38 out of 40 points. Team Future floundered a little, but still garnered plenty of praise from the judges.

After the performances host Tom Bergeron got straight into eliminations, announcing that either Jana or Gleb and Maureen and Artem are being sent home. Viewer votes, along with a perfect score in the week prior, saves Jana and Gleb and Maureen and Artem are sent packing.

Their elimination comes after weeks of subtle improvement and continued low scores. Although Maureen and Artem are no longer in the running for the Mirror Ball trophy, the “Brady Bunch” actress said she is grateful to have had the experience. In her final ballroom interview she tells Bergeron she felt like she was “floating” throughout much of the competition. The elimination comes as no surprise to most “DWTS” fans. Still, many praise Maureen for remaining positive and finding her confidence during her time on the show.

Who will be the next team eliminated from Season 23 of “DWTS?” Tune in Monday, Oct. 31, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABCto find out.
